Cap and Tax - Private Property at Risk

If the Climate bill monstrosity is passed, it will destroy our economy. Do you know what’s in it? Neither did House members that voted for it. The 1500 page bill was passed after a 300 page amendment was added at 3:00 a.m. Sound familiar?

Onerous provisions include a requirement to have federal inspection before you sell your home. You are required to retrofit to California building codes before you are allowed to sell your own home. New construction must meet California building codes. This does not bode well for the real estate market, building industry, or private property rights.

Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore and Rep. Ed Markey (his name on the bill) have large investments in “green” energy and passage will benefit them personally. Alan Carlin, PhD, senior analyst with the EPA, issued a report disputing the U.N. data on “climate change.” The report has been suppressed by the administration. Mr. Carlin has been told to shut up. www.cbsnews.com

Health Care will be crammed down our throats as well. Despite Mr. Obama’s insistence that “you can keep your coverage,” a public plan insures private insurance will soon be extinct. Watch democrats in their own words at The Public Plan Deception - It's Not About Choiceon YouTube.

Neither bill is about its stated purpose. The goal is to allow the federal government to control your life. Call, fax, email your Senators. Peaceable protest is still legal, but you’d better hurry. Wake up people! Dictatorship is NEVER benevolent.

CAP & TAX - 2.5 MILLION JOBS PER YEAR!

The facist/socialist/statist/communist/dictatorship forces of the House of Representatives had their way with the American people yesterday in the form of voting for the "CAP AND TRADE" or "CAP AND TAX" bill.

This bill is the culmination of the work of the Al Gore the Almighty Green God. He "donates" his salary, but has set himself up, along with GE, Pelosi, Markey, etal. with investments that will make a fortune in green - and I'm not talking about the environmental kind.

While the country was distracted by the death of Michael Jackson, late on a Friday afternoon, 8 Republicans voted to pass this monstrosity. Their names and phone numbers are listed below and you are encouraged to not only let them have a piece of your wisdom, but I encourage you to campaign against these people, and if they are up against a democrat, by all means give the democrat funds, but not your vote, AND DEFEAT THESE TRAITORS TO THE AMERICA THAT I LOVE!!!

  • Castle (DE) (202) 225-4165
  • Kirk (IL) (202) 225-4385
  • Lance (NJ) (202) 225-5361
  • LoBiondo (NJ) (202) 225-6572

  • Reichert (WA) (202) 225-7761
  • Smith (NJ) (202) 225-3765

Time for the gloves to come off, my fellow conservatives, we must take the fight to the statists, no matter what letter comes after their name.

In the interest of FREEDOM, I have purchased a poster for the fabrication of my sign to be used in the 4th of July Tea Party.

CAP AND TAX slated for Friday Vote

Nancy Pelosi is forcing a vote on the CAP AND TRADE (otherwise known as CAP AND TAX) bill by Friday of this week. In the scheme, the government will create "carbon credits" to be doled out to companies to have permission to pollute. Once a company has used its allowed 'credits', it would be forced to go on the 'carbon credit market' and purchase more credits from a company that had not used its allotment. The scheme is fertile ground for corruption, and companies such as GE and the green energy companies invented by Al Gore have promoted this legislation to get in on the ground floor of a whole new market in carbon credits to be financed by the taxpayer. This will only be the beginning.

The system is a gigantic power grab for the Statists - the opportunity to tax anything that emits 'greenhouse gases' - your air conditioner, your car exhaust, your fireplace, your bbq grill, cow flatulence, pig flatulence, your flatulence, your exhalations!

Anything that is manufactured, grown, shipped will have the added cost of this tax. Every time you turn on a light bulb, turn on your stove, take a bath, watch TV, use a computer - you will be paying this tax. This bill is estimated to increase the energy bill for every household $2000-3000 per year and cost of 2 million jobs.

The bill is being rushed through while everyone is distracted by the Health Care debate (don't forget that ABC is devoting today to that cause) and Iran riots.

We must take a firm stand against this - and we must do it right now. Contact your representative today. As of this moment, there are 8 votes at play, and Nancy Pelosi will stop at nothing to get them.

Fed Wants To Squash Your Tomatoes

I has come to my attention that a bill is sitting in House Committee that would effectively put my backyard garden under Federal control.

I have sent the following to Senators Martinez and Nelson, as well as Jeff Miller.

The Food Modernization Act of 2009 (HR 875 and S 425) disturbs me greatly. The text of HR 875 and S 425 would effectively strip the authority of the States’ Agriculture Departments and put them under federal control to be used as enforcement agencies. Please consult the 10th Amendment. It is so broad that it could even affect backyard gardeners and hunters involved with processing food for their own consumption.

The bill proposes onerous recordkeeping and disclosure by any “food processing facility” – i.e. family farm - in “any format (including paper or electronic) and at any location to assist the Administrator.” I dare say that Ruth at the three-day a week farmer’s market (she’s the one I buy tomatoes from) does not have the resources to provide a report to some bureaucracy. I grew the collards for my New Year’s dinner this year, and under this plan I would have been subject to inspection and record-keeping. My friend Mary cooks the wild turkeys that her husband hunts. This legislation would make her kitchen a “food processing facility” subject to inspections. Please consult the 4th amendment.

It is presumed that this bill will be passed without a thorough reading. I ask you to read this bill, especially Sections 103 and 206. The wording of this bill is so broad-based that it would give the Federal government control over producing our own food. This is a dangerous proposition and treacherous legislation. It must not pass.

This bill will usurp the authority of State agricultural committees, as well as local agricultural authorities and use them as policing arms of the federal government. The concern is that this legislation, because of its innocuous name will be passed without review.

Stimulus Bad for Your Health

Obama is very up-front about medical records being computerized, but fails to mention the health care committee and the "Health Czar" to be created. This panel would determine the cost versus the life expectancy of an individual as to whether they receive healthcare or not. Also, that doctors should become less independent??

Tom Daschle is out of the picture, but his greasy fingerprints are all over this one. He stated in his book that the reason that Hillarycare didn't work was because the people found out about it. This time it must be done swiftly and without too much detail. This fits that bill. We must write letters to the editor, call talk radio, post to blogs and make this widely known - and quickly!

DEFIANCE!

I debated myself this morning. Should I fly the flag upside down, should I fly it at half staff, should I fly it at all (my Mother said if I have nothing good to say, I should say nothing).

Conservatives not being conservatives brought us to this point. We must return to the values of Ronald Reagan and educate, educate, educate the masses that government dependence is not the way of freedom. We must focus on the virtues of Capitalism, ala Ayn Rand. We must cleanse our movement of the Lindsey Grahams and the John McCains. We must demand that the Republicans that are left on Capitol Hill have the cajones to fight the good fight against socialism, which has never worked, and left unchecked will surely dissolve into tyranny:

''For their happiness such a government willingly labors, but it chooses to be the sole agent and the only arbiter of that happiness; it provides for their security, foresees and supplies their necessities, facilitates their pleasures, manages their principled concerns, directs their industry, regulates the descent of property, and subdivides their inheritances: what remains, but to spare them all care of thinking and the trouble of living?” . . . It covers the surface of society with a network of small and complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting: such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to be nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.''

Alexis de Tocqueville from Democracy in America 1836

My flag is flying high – in DEFIANCE.

Give It Back! Stimulus of the People, By the People!

This plan is fantastic in its simplicity. There are $350 billion left in the bailout money. The revenue from tax withholding for two months is somewhere around
$336 billion.

Congressman Gohmert proposes that the bailout money be kept in the treasury and give the people a two month tax holiday. This would be an immediate stimulus to the economy. It would allow us to spend the extra money to buy a car, flatscreen TV, catch up on bills, etc. It would prevent the bureaucrats from meddling in the free market and allow that free market to determine who will be winners and who will be losers.

I heard Congressman Gohmert talk about his plan. He said that one Congressman suggested that it would be putting the money back into the hands of the very people that caused this mess. I would like to know the name of that Congressman - if that doesn't @#%% you off, I don't know what would.

Newt Gingrich has endorsed the plan. Both Newt and Congressman Gohmert said that the effort to get this done will have to come from the people, as the politicians don't want to relinquish control, AND after two months without withholding, they will have a tax revolt on their hands.

The link below describes the plan in detail and has a link to a petition at RedState.com.

In addition, we need to shut down the switchboard at the Capitol, as we did with the back-door Kennedy/McCain Amnesty bill.
Contact Senators and Congress TODAY!!! The government is of the people, by the people and for the people. We must be active in it.

McCain the Gentleman, Bless His Heart

Our Republic is in danger. Barack Obama’s radicalism runs deep. Charismatic politicians throughout history have seized on the idealism and gullibility of youth. Barack Obama is such a politician.

I believe that his and his party’s ambitions are more nefarious than he would have the electorate believe.

An Obama administration will embrace no holds barred socialism. Mr. Obama himself has said that he would “spread the wealth around” - ala Mr. Marx.

Additionally, with Democrats in full power, a new and improved “Fairness Doctrine” will immediately be imposed, not only on talk radio, but on the internet. This will effectively shut down the voices of opposition. They will also pass the benign-sounding “Employee Free Choice Act”, designed to unionize workplaces without secret ballots. We know that in the former Soviet Union membership in a union was required for a job or even a loaf of bread.

Obama must be exposed for the Marxist that he is. McCain cannot do it, for his standard of civility, bless his heart, does not permit it.

An op-ed letter penned by Jon Voight appeared in The Washington Times on July 25, 2008. He has summed up the fears of many, much more eloquently than I. His letter is worth reading and promulgating:  http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jul/28/voight/

Proposal is socialist - pure and simple!

Forgive me for imposing on the Federal government's headlong foray into complete and utter socialism - there are alternatives:
We have 12-13 trillion dollars in capital sitting in offshore accounts. Were the capital gains tax to be suspended, the money would come pouring in faster than the bean counters could count.

Newt Gingrinch's proposal make sense to me:

What Should We Do?

As I wrote on Sunday on National Review Online here are four immediate steps we can take:

Eliminate the "mark to market" accounting provision which is driving companies into bankruptcy unnecessarily.

Repeal the Sarbanes-Oxley law which failed in every case this year and which burdens new companies with a $3 million-a-year accounting fee.

Join China and Singapore in eliminating the capital gains tax and watch money pour into the system from private investors at no cost to the taxpayer.

Pass a strong energy bill to return at least $500 billion a year in energy money to the United States.

If we had an extra $5 trillion in energy spending in our economy in the next ten years with a zero capital gains tax and a liberated entrepreneurial sector no longer crippled by Sarbanes-Oxley we would generate the wealth to absorb all the current losses.

A No-Growth Bailout Just Sets the Stage for More Bailouts

Congress should pass no bailout without attaching a powerful economic growth component to it.

A bailout in isolation simply sets the stage for more bailouts.

In the absence of economic growth the economy will decay and debts will decay and they will be back next year for even more of your money.

Economic growth is the only way to get America on the right track.
The proposed bailout is unacceptable and dangerous.

Liberals sorting the "makers" from the "takers"

Bob Cesca was really on to something this week. He cherry-picked election products from conservative-themed sites.

Bob said:

Republicans might not be funny, but I think we can all agree that they know how to make some awesome products. Who can forget the Obama Monkey, the Hillary nutcracker and the Bill Clinton watch (it ran backwards! har-har!). Here are some brand new Republican items for sale on the tubes. These are actual products.

The comments from his buddies were, as my husband put it, "fairly civil." The important thing is that these people have unwittingly acknowledged that conservatives are the "makers" in this country. Don't worry, Bob, we've got your back.
